Akia is the mother dog of (Momo – our three-legged – Beppo, Cassi, Dogena, Gianna, Gigi, Loya and Marley) who lived in the garage for 4 years after her puppies left to their homes, because she was anxious.

Akia finally left in December 2020. The Paws Residence Wildenrath in Wegberg took her in.

Eight long months took for Akia to get over her fear. Her sad existence in the garage slowly became a past and she started enjoying her freedom and long forgotten basic things like fresh air, sunshine, grass and most importantly reliving human attention.

And after 8 months Akia was finally lucky!

She found the people she was looking for – simply people with a lot of patience.

After just hiding in the garden for the first few days, she is already laying relaxed on her blanket next to the sofa.

She is making good progress and will hopefully be able to trust again soon.
